cleaning the house is great because it declutters the soul.
it forces you to get rid of what isn’t needed.
i like to clean because it is relaxing. i know i’ll be in charge of doing the dishes because i enjoy the monotonous task when i have a lot on my mind.
and i always have a lot on my mind.
you can tell how much by on how much cleaning i’m doing. if i come home and do the dishes, there’s nothing much happening here; but when i take off my shoes, turn on the music, and wage war on the scum of the house—you know it’s bad. this usually happens after i had so much on my mind that i spiraled into a deep pit of despair and didn’t have the energy to climb out of it.
what’s nice about it is that brief moment of relief when you realize that all you need to do to get out of that rut is to declutter your mind. it’s almost refreshing in a sense.
today i am about to declutter my computer and get rid of files from school and stupid downloaded memes dating as far back as 2009. and then i’m going to scour the earth of projects that were never meant to be, and get the creative juices flowing.
welcome back.
